2018 is the year Kapiti residents will get to see the long awaited Kapiti Performing Arts Centre.

Behind closed doors, parts of the building are being prefabricated and are expected to be delivered to the site in February.

Chair of the KPAC Group Cas Carter says after years of planning, it will be exciting to see the building finally taking shape.

“There has been a lot of hardwork by a lot of people for many years planning, designing and then reshaping the plans to suit the needs of the Kapiti Community.”

“This will be a venue for everyone in Kapiti who enjoys a good show.  Whether your thing is jazz music, dance, opera, musicals, barbershop, drama or many other arts – there will be something for everyone in the community.

Ms Carter says residents, holiday homers and visitors will all be able to share in the pleasure of having a contemporary, multi purpose centre close to their home.

“It will be a place to showcase our local artists, host visiting artists and, of course, develop new artists through the school and other community arts groups.

Another $800,000 is needed to complete the $10 million project.  To support the project you can sponsor a seat, room or the centre itself.  More information can be found on the donate page of this website or by contacting Cas Carter on 021 915410.

“We are delighted with the support we have received so far from Lotteries, the Kapiti District Council, Coastlands Shopping Town, the New Zealand Community Trust, Paraparaumu Rotary, The Kapiti Music Centre and the many individuals and businesses who have supported the project through donations and seat sponsorships.”
