Becoming a seat sponsor
Who can be a seat sponsor?
Anyone can be a seat sponsor – businesses, families and individuals.
How can I be part of the show and sponsor a seat?
To become a seat sponsor:
- buy a seat online on our website at www.kapitiartscentre.nz/contact
- email [email protected]
- phone Cas Carter on 021 915410.
For more information on seat sponsorship please visit www.kapitiartscentre.nz/donating/#.
Can I sponsor more than one seat?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of seats you can sponsor (while there are still seats available).
Benefits of seat sponsorship
How will seat sponsorship be recognised?
All seat donations will be commemorated with an elegant, personalised plaque, mounted on a seat in the Centre’s Main Theatre (the Coastlands Theatre). There will also be a special performance for seat sponsors (one person per sponsored seat).
Plus, Platinum sponsors will also receive:
- recognition on the honours board in the Grand Foyer
- one invitation to the Centre’s gala opening
How will my donation be used?
Your donation will go towards the costs of building the Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre, and is an important part of our sponsorship campaign to get the project started. It will be the only purpose-built community theatre between Wellington and Palmerston North, attracting a wide variety of performances, events and exhibits.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. Each donor will receive a receipt and certificate of thanks. For more information on seat sponsorship please visit www.kapitiartscentre.nz/donating/#.
Is GST charged on a seat sponsorship?
For individual sponsors (a person or family), the donation is an unconditional grant, so no GST applies.
If you are a business, or a person wanting to add a business name on the plaque, the sponsorship amount is plus GST. This is because from a tax perspective, sponsoring a seat is deemed to be advertising your business. Therefore, it is not an unconditional grant.
What does it cost to sponsor a seat?
There are two levels of sponsorship: Gold donations of $500 and Platinum donations of $2,500. These prices are GST exclusive (if any). [See the question on GST above.]
How can I pay my donation?
Payment can be made:
- by credit card: visit www.kapitiartscentre.nz. Please include your contact detailsat. Note that a surcharge applies to credit card donations.
- by internet banking to account 12 3157 0166870 52. Please put your name in the Particulars field and your phone number in the Reference field.
- by cheque: send your cheque along with the seat sponsorship form to Kāpiti College on Margaret Road, or post it to us at PO Box 2003, Raumati Beach, Paraparaumu 5032.
- in person: payments can be made at our stalls at Coastlands, or at the Kāpiti College office on Margaret Road, Raumati Beach.
Seats and plaques
What will be inscribed on my plaque?
You can choose to have a name or an appropriate message inscribed on your plaque. There is room for up to 35 characters on a Platinum plaque, and up to 25 characters on a Gold plaque.
What do the plaques look like?
The Coastlands Theatre is still in its design stage and a final seat style hasn’t been ordered yet. We are looking at stylish and suitable options of plaques that will complement the seats’ materials, can be fixed securely, are durable and have high visibility. Platinum plaques will be larger (and can hold more characters) than the Gold plaques.
How long will my plaque stay on the seat?
Forever! This is a one-time-only opportunity with a lasting legacy.
Can I book the seat with my plaque on it?
No. We are not able to connect bookings with the seat with your plaque.
Where will the seat with my plaque be located?
The location of the seat with your plaque will depend on whether you are a Platinum or Gold seat sponsor. If you are a Platinum seat sponsor, your plaque will be on a seat in the Platinum Section of the Coastlands Theatre – the seats with the greatest visibility. Gold sponsors’ plaques will be in the Gold Section of the Coastlands Theatre. You cannot choose the specific location of the seat.
Once we have a seat map of the Coastlands Theatre, we will post this on the website so you can check the location of sponsored seats.
How do I find the seat with my plaque on it?
A map of seat sponsors will be available on our website.
