Nau Mai Haere Mai

Come and explore the new Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre and get a back stage tour of all of the facilities included in this incredible venue. See the theatres and dance studios in action and take centre stage to view it from the performers perspective.

The Public Open Day is our way of showing our community what a truly magnificent facility Kāpiti now has.

Entry will be by gold coin donation to support final fundraising efforts for the Centre.

There will also be an array of Food Trucks located out the front of the Centre.

The Public Open Day will celebrate all things performance and thank the community allowing an up close look at this incredible new venue. This marks the start of the two-week opening season as local talent and two of the biggest names in New Zealand performing arts take to the new stage and put the Centre through its paces.

NZSO Present:

J S Bach’s Goldberg Variations is a masterpiece. First written for harpsichord, it opens with a beautifully tranquil and ornamented Aria followed by 30 intricate and distinct variations. NZSO brings this Baroque gem to regional audiences, with the variations performed on a variety of instruments.

“The different instruments will add a huge amount of colour to the variations, making an already exquisite work even more mesmerising for audiences”

“Bach’s Goldberg Variations is hauntingly beautiful and a work of genius. It’s the most incredible piece.”

NZSO Concertmaster and Baroque Series Director Vesa-Matti Leppänen.

Inspired by the goddess of the hunt and of the moon, Sarah Foster-Sproull’s Artemis Rising was created in 2019 as a retirement gift for the much-loved former RNZB Principal Abigail Boyle.

Remember, Mama is a tender look at the relationships between mothers and sons, from childhood to old age.

Berceuse by US choreographer Penny Saunders, a rapturous, deeply musical pas de deux to a lyrical lullaby by Benjamin Godard, was created in 2011 for the ground-breaking contemporary Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago.

Completing the line-up is a new classical work, Wayward, by young Canadian dancer and choreographer Kiara Flavin, who joined the RNZB in 2018.

With tickets priced at just $27-$37 for adults ($12-$22 for children) these special shows are guaranteed to sell fast – book now! Booking fees may apply.
